UX Crash Course for Product Managers

More product managers are shipping interfaces, and fewer have a designer in the room. In one live session, learn the framework designers use to evaluate any screen — then run your own product through it. No design background required.

About the Session

More than ever before, product managers are shipping interfaces — and fewer of them have a designer in the room. Whether you're reviewing a designer's work, or generating screens yourself and trying to tell good from plausible, the hard part is the same: knowing why something isn't working, and being able to say it out loud. This session gives you the evaluation framework designers actually use.

We'll work through real interfaces on screen — including AI-generated ones — naming what's wrong and why. Then you'll run your own product through the same frame, with feedback in the room.  At the end of the session, we’ll also demo a workflow using AI tools to serve as your UX evaluation partner.

Over three hours you’ll:
Learn the heuristics professional designers use to diagnose interface problems
Watch live critiques of real products, including AI-generated screens, and see how the reasoning works
Evaluate a screen from your own product and get feedback on your assessment
Explore how to use AI as your UX evaluation partner
You’ll walk away with:
An evaluation checklist you can apply to any screen, in or out of the session
A worked critique of your own product
Language for design conversations that lands with designers rather than around them
The session recording, available afterward

You won't leave a designer, and that isn't the goal. You'll leave able to judge design work with reasons behind it. Early bird pricing ends September 30th. Enroll now.

Who It’s For

This session is for people who make product decisions about interfaces without a design background — and possibly, without a designer.

Illustration of person learning data-driven design

PRODUCT MANAGERS who sit in design reviews and want to give feedback that lands, rather than deferring or arguing from taste.

PMS AT SMALL TEAMS who are involved in design by default — prototyping in AI tools, shipping screens, and working without anyone to check the quality bar.

FOUNDERS AND BUILDERS generating interfaces with AI and needing to tell the difference between output that looks finished and output that works.

No design background required.

Learn Frameworks to Know When Design is Working

YOU WILL LEARN

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a design background?

No. This session is built for people who make decisions about interfaces without formal design training. You don’t need to know Figma or any design tool — you’ll be evaluating work, not producing it.

What do I need to bring?

One screen you’d like to evaluate. It can come from your own product, a side project, or anywhere else — including something you generated with an AI tool. It’s there to serve as an example, so bring it open and ready to share.

Is this a design course?

Not exactly. You won’t leave able to design an interface from scratch, and that isn’t the goal. You’ll leave able to judge design work and explain your reasoning — which is a different and, for most PMs, more useful skill.

Does this cover AI-generated interfaces?

Yes, directly. Part of the live critique works through AI-generated screens, because the gap between output that looks finished and output that works is where most teams are getting caught right now.

What if I can't attend live?

The recording is available afterward. That said, we strongly encourage attending live — the session is built around working through real screens together, and that’s hard to replicate on a replay.

What do I walk away with?

An evaluation checklist you can apply to any screen, a worked critique of your own example, and the session recording.

what if I don't like the course?
