INVISION, UX TRAILBLAZER, SHUTTING DOWN IN THE ERA OF FIGMA

  • InVision’s CEO Michael Shenkman announced the end of InVision’s design collaboration services, with all user accounts closing at the end of 2024.
  • At its peak, InVision was one of the hottest UX tools on the market. However, a lack of growth and product development led to the program falling out of favor.
  • In his remarks , Shenkman shares gratitude for users, stating: “Together we reimagined how designers collaborate, raised the importance of design thinking, and, in the process, helped revolutionize the design industry.”

SCALING THE DESIGN LADDER: SEEING LIKE A DESIGNER

  • Designer Pavel Samsonov takes a look at how design thinking can be applied to all areas of a working environment, and examines how designers can leverage this as a skill to build maturity within their own career.
  • Samsonov advocates for a holistic culture of design thinking. Within the proposed model, every decision made across a team, regardless of someone’s role, has both a clear explanation and tangible purpose.
  • “The biggest value of design is not building better apps — it’s building better ways of working.”

DESIGNING FOR AI HALLUCINATION: CAN DESIGN HELP TACKLE MACHINE CHALLENGES?

  • AI hallucinations happen when an AI provides an output that contains made-up information, or is not based on the prompt it receives. To the untrained eye, however, it can often be challenging to determine when these mistakes are being made.
  • Through using icons, progress bars, or color coding, thoughtful design could help AI communicate its level of confidence around specific content.
  • “As passengers on the road, we take cues from the traffic signals; as customers, we derive meanings from the packaging of products…design is an inexplicable part of our lives and we cannot underestimate its potential to guide human interactions with advanced technologies—AI is no exception.”
