There are many great UX design podcasts that can help designers stay up-to-date on the latest trends, find new inspiration, and improve their skills.

UX design podcasts are a unique and informative medium for designers interested in gaining new insight into the ever-changing world of product design. From interviews with leading industry professionals to deep dives into the world of user experience design, there is something available for designers at all levels of knowledge.

1. Scratching the Surface

  • Hosted by: Jarrett Fuller
  • Average Episode Length: 45 minutes - 1 hour

Scratching the Surface is a podcast about design, theory, and creative practice. Hosted by Jarrett Fuller, each episode features wide-ranging conversations with designers, architects, writers, academics, artists, and theorists about how design shapes culture. Although this podcast isn’t specifically about the world of product design, the range of topics offers valuable perspective and insight that can be applied in your day to day UX work. 

2. 99% Invisible

  • Hosted by: Roman Mars
  • Average Episode Length: 40 minutes

Hosted by award winning producer Roman Mars, the podcast 99% Invisible is a weekly exploration of the process and power of design and architecture. With over 500 episodes, listeners are treated to incredible reflections on the fact that design is everywhere in our lives, perhaps most importantly in the places where we've just stopped noticing. The episodes delve into “all the thought that goes into the things we don’t think about—the unnoticed architecture and design that shape our world.”

3. The Design Better Podcast

  • Hosted by: Aaron Walter and Wli Woolery

The Design Better podcast is a perennial favorite among new and experienced designers alike. The series, hosted by Aarron Walter and Eli Woolery and brought to you by InVision, shares conversations and insights from “the world’s most renowned creative leaders, empowering teams to transform their practice and build remarkable products.”

4. UX Podcast

  • Hosted by: James Royal-Lawson and Per Axbom
  • Average Episode Length:  35 - 45 minutes

UX Podcast™ is a twice-monthly digital design podcast that presents insights and conversation about business, technology, and people. The goal: to “push the boundaries of how user experience is perceived and boost your confidence in the work you do” … and they do it well. This podcast isn’t afraid to step outside the normal list of UX topics and challenge the status quo by discussing subjects like metacognition alongside sitemaps, Web3, and more.

5. Design Matters

  • Hosted by: Debbie Millman
  • Average Episode Length: 1 hour

The Design Matters podcast, hosted by Debbie Millman, is your glimpse into a series of in-depth interviews “with industry icons about the intersection of design and life.” Thanks to the slightly longer run time of each episode (usually coming in around the 1 hour mark), Millman is able to dive deep into the conversations and draw out the key takeaways from each success story that’s sure to leave you scrambling for paper and a pen to take notes.

The Nielsen Norman Group (NNg) UX Podcast is a podcast on user experience research, design, strategy, and professions. Hosted by Senior User Experience Specialist, Therese Fessenden, this podcast showcases interviews with industry experts, discussing common questions and presenting hot takes on pressing UX topics. 

7. Wireframe

  • Hosted by: Khoi Vinh

The Wireframe podcast is hosted by Khoi Vinh, Senior Director of Design at Adobe and one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business. Each episode takes a look at the stories behind UX design, and sheds revealing insight into how these stories help technology fit into our lives, covering real life examples that range from the effectiveness of sleep apps to accessibility concerns for aging user demographics.

The UI Breakfast podcast is hosted by Jane Portman, a longtime UX/UI design consultant and co-founder of Userlist, where her goal is to provide flawless UX and help users be awesome at their customer messaging. If you’re looking to pair UX design skills with a background (or passion for) writing, the Writers in Tech podcast should definitely be on your subscribe list. Brought to you by Yuval Keshtcher at the UX Writing Hub, this is a podcast where “content strategists, UX writers, and content designers share their well-kept industry secrets.Nearly every episode has a guest speaker who shares insight into topics from the state of the UX design industry to freelancing to writing effective marketing emails for SaaS products.
