Designlab is growing, both as a company and as a community.
One of the exciting opportunities this brings is: IRL MEETUPS!
Our aim for these events is to create an opportunity for students, mentors, and friends to mingle and share their stories and advice. It’s also a chance for the Designlab team to say hi and, you know, give away free stuff.
June’s event for Designlab's NYC community was hosted at Loosie’s, a bar in Williamsburg. Described as “Instagram porn” on Yelp, Loosie’s was a warm and intimate venue to welcome 25+ members of the Designlab crowd, who packed out the bar and stayed well past the scheduled 9pm finish…
Current and prospective UX Academy students were able to mix with mentors from companies like Squarespace, while also getting the chance to meet with Designlab alumni—and hear first-hand about the demands and opportunities of life in the industry.
After the event, a couple of lucky attendees also got their hands on a $100 Amazon voucher, and a free 4-week course! 💰
As Designlab’s student base expands, both within the U.S. and beyond, we’re realizing that hosting regular meetups is helping us to offer the best of both worlds: combining the flexibility of an online learning system with opportunities for offline networking, peer support, and design collaboration.

Thanks to everyone who came. We’re looking forward to sharing more community events soon!
