Why We Built This Program

At Designlab, we’ve spent the last two years building hands-on AI programs for designers—and watching how quickly those tools moved from “interesting” to indispensable. As a marketer who’s spent most of my career at startups and small teams, I kept asking the same question: where does AI actually help marketers today?

The problem wasn’t a lack of ideas. It was the opposite. There’s an overwhelming amount of advice about AI for marketing—much of it abstract, repetitive, or disconnected from real workflows. So we set out to curate something different: a series focused on the places where AI is already making experienced marketers faster, more effective, and more creative.

Instead of covering everything, we went looking for people who are deeply fluent in a few highly practical workflows—things you can take back to work and use immediately. My hope is that you leave this series energized, confident, and equipped with systems you’ll keep using long after the sessions end.

About AI for the Lean Marketer

There’s no shortage of advice about AI tools and how marketers should be using AI—but much of it is either a poorly disguised sales pitch for a new tool, too shallow, or disconnected from the realities of day-to-day marketing work. For marketers focused on getting stuff done and driving results, that noise can quickly become overwhelming.

AI for the Lean Marketer was built to cut through it. This hands-on workshop series focuses on AI-powered workflows that are already saving marketers time right now—not speculative future use cases or basic “AI 101” explainers.

Across four focused sessions, you’ll learn how experienced practitioners are using AI to tackle real marketing problems: clarifying positioning, creating brand-consistent visuals, improving search performance in an AI-driven discovery landscape, and turning one strong asset into a multi-channel campaign. The emphasis is on reusable workflows, prompt frameworks, and systems you can apply immediately—whether you’re a generalist at a startup, part of a small growth team, or working inside a larger organization that wants to operate with lean-team speed.

Over four sessions across four weeks you’ll:
Learn hands-on AI workflows for core marketing tasks—from research and positioning to content creation and distribution
Use AI to clarify messaging, generate first-draft assets, and speed up execution across channels
Create brand-consistent visuals and creative using modern image-generation and design tools
Apply AI to SEO and content strategy, including optimization for LLM-driven discovery
And much, much more!
You’ll walk away with:
Practical experience using today’s most effective AI tools for marketing workflows
Reusable prompt frameworks and systems  you can adapt to your own work
Proven approaches that are already saving marketers time today—not speculative tactics
Exclusive access to a Slack community of your peers learning the same stack

Whether you’re a marketing generalist at a startup, part of a small growth team, or working inside a larger organization, AI for the Lean Marketer will help you move faster, work smarter, and apply AI in ways that make an immediate difference in your day-to-day work.

Who It’s For

AI for the Lean Marketer is built for marketers who are actively doing the work—and want better systems for getting more done with less. It’s designed for people who already understand marketing fundamentals, but want practical, modern AI workflows they can apply immediately across strategy, execution, and distribution.

This workshop series is especially well-suited for:

MARKETING GENERALISTS & OPERATORS
Marketers at startups, scale-ups, or agencies who wear multiple hats and need to move quickly across positioning, content, visuals, and distribution—without relying on large teams or specialized roles.

LEAN TEAMS WITHIN LARGER ORGANIZATIONS
Marketers at bigger companies who want to operate with startup-level speed and efficiency—using AI to streamline workflows, reduce bottlenecks, and get more leverage from existing resources.

FOUNDERS & ENTREPRENEURIAL MARKETERS
Founders, operators, or solo builders who are deeply involved in marketing and want proven, non-fluffy ways to use AI to sharpen messaging, create assets, and drive organic growth—without starting from square one.

Across all of these roles, this series is for people who value hands-on learning, care about real outputs, and want workflows that work in the real world—not just ideas that sound good in a slide deck.
